CMV: The new 2020 Jeep Gladiator is not a good idea, and is a step back for Jeep.

This is a summary of my thoughts. I'm sure there's more to it. But I've always felt like Jeeps were off-road vehicles, and that was it. My dad had a Cherokee back in the '80s. I had a Wrangler back in the early 2000s. It was fun for me because I lived in the mountains. I would drive it on dirt roads. But I didn't take it off the road.

Fast forward to 2020, and the new Gladiator seems to be the opposite. It's marketed as a work truck. And I don't see how that's a good fit for the brand. Jeep is an outdoorsy brand, and people buy it because they want a car that can take them on dirt roads and camping, or what not. The Gladiator seems to be marketed as a competitor to the Tacoma and Colorado, with the idea that it can be a work vehicle. It just feels wrong to me.
