Rant about how I had to explain feminism to a guy on Craigslist

I'm a realtor, and today I had to explain feminism to a 68 year old man that owns a business. We were on Craigslist and I was answering his questions about a property in my city when I had to give him my phone number. Then he asked for my name and he goes "oh so it's Mrs. (lastName)?" and I go "no, it's Ms. (last name)".<br><br><br>He then goes on to tell me that he's old school and he's always called a married woman Mrs. I tell him that I've been divorced for 8 years but that's not the issue. I go on to explain feminism to him - how women are equal to men and how Ms. is a title of respect for women like Mr. is a title of respect for men. I explain to him that calling a woman Ma'am or Mrs. is old school, and Ms. is the new thing. I even tell him that calling a woman "sweet cheeks" or "honey" or "lady" is unacceptable because it's disrespectful. I tell him that if he wants to get anywhere in business he should learn a thing or two about feminism, and treat women the way he would want to be treated.<br><br>Then...he messages me on Realtor.com and says that I need to "watch my big mouth". I message him back explaining that I'm not his wife, I'm not his daughter, and I'm not his employee. I go on to tell him that I'm his equal. I then block him on everything and move on with my day.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit: omg y'all, I didn't think this would blow up so much! Thank you for the support and awards. I'm happy to live in a time where women are supported and people are educated on feminism. It's a beautiful thing, and I'm glad I got to stand up for myself. Have a great day! <3
