I'm sick and tired of the fear of AI. I'm not being hyperbolic.

You have 0 control who is in your country. There are currently people in your country who murder. There are currently pedophiles in your country. You have 0 control over people committing crimes in your country. That's why laws exist. No one has control over where a thief uses a gun, but because of our laws, we hope that's not legal. <br><br>Banning AI is 100% not going to work. It's not going to happen and it's anti-constitutional. AI subverts the current laws of this country because of a lot of reasons that it doesn't share. Trolls, need a place to exist in this world. Pedophiles, have no place in this world. If someone has a thing for a inanimate or fictional character who is underage, that's it. Like the last thing on Earth I want to share is a bed with an inflatable silicon figurine. At least it's not human, I don't have to spend money on it, I don't have to share a room with it, I don't have to work to support it. It also doesn't get any of my food.<br><br>We are not going to ban food. We are going to ban feeding children in the park, as it leads to feeding animals that don't deserve it, who are the children who aren't getting food, because now you are feeding them too. You have to let it starve because it was fed by someone else. <br><br>We need a lot of laws already, but we don't need to outlaw everything. So much of my opinion on this sub is that you are all just like a bunch of fucking idiots. I feel like I'm in a Chinese restaurant. I'm not Chinese, I'm just being treated like a unaware dumbass with no idea how to spend money, because they want my money. The world now is so fucked, and instead of changing the state of affairs, people are busy allowing the government to ban what basically is talking to a machine who speaks like a human.<br><br>ML models are AI. So are antibodies. Antimalarial drugs. Tetracycline. Doxycycline. There are countless numbers of drugs, psychotropics that could kill someone with a gun, inanimate objects, and analogously, AI is not capable of harming anyone. You can now ban cars because a lot of people drive drunk, and sometimes they hit someone with a car, and it can be fatal. You can now ban food, because overeating and eating too much unhealthy food can lead to death. You can now ban animals, because they are capable of harming other animals, and people. Ban it all. Ban all of it. Ban everything. Make every single thing illegal. <br><br>What's important is making the right laws. What's important is that the government knows what AI is. In reality, the government cares more about their bottom line, and less about what the people want. Laws are considered and made on the basis of what they can do. AI will be necessary to generate laws because of the complexity of laws that it's currently impossible to keep track of. I'm not hyperbolic about the fact that I'm so sick of people who are afraid of AI. I'm sick of people who misuse AI. I'm sick of the idiots who don't know anything about AI, and don't want to know anything about AI, and don't want their life to change, because they don't want to learn something new. <br><br>They want to keep the world who it is. They want to keep the state of affairs. They want to keep everything. They don't want to change anything, because they want everything to remain the same. They want the same movie theater on the corner, and the same movie options, and a lot of people already misuse AI, and that's going to keep happening. You are just going to have to deal with the fact that a lot of people in this world are going to use AI to do fucked up shit, because that has already happened. Because sometimes, you have to let people fail. Sometimes, you have to let someone fail, because then they will learn.
