AITA for thinking my friend went overboard with my gift.

My friend (F25) and I (26M) are long distance friends right now. We went to high school together but I moved away after college for work. We have still kept in contact over the years.

For Christmas this year, she wanted to know what I wanted. I didn’t want to spend my money so I asked for a few kitchen items. I asked for a stand mixer, a slow cooker, and a blender. I know this is a bit over the top for a gift but I didn’t care. I didn’t expect her to get it for me.

Well, she did. She sent them to me a few weeks before Christmas. I sent her a thank you and she said she was happy I liked it.

Fast forward to her birthday. I spent a little over $100 on a few items she wanted as a gift. She said thank you and that she loved it. A few days later she texted me asking if I only spent $100 on her birthday gift because I didn’t like the Christmas gift? She said she went all out on my gift because it’s a big deal to be alone for the holidays and she wanted to show how much she cares. I told her I did appreciate it and the gift was amazing. I said I just didn’t feel comfortable spending that much money so I got her something nicer than I usually do. She said that she expected something bigger since she went all out on Christmas. I didn’t reply after that.

Did I screw up?
