The Biden campaign promised $6,000 baby tax credit. Many people on chambers and Twitter were skeptical and said it was a stupid idea and that Biden was crazy.

However, a couple of months ago, my wife gave birth to our daughter. It cost $11,500. Our insurance did not cover the whole thing.

It is true that a lot of people can have children without any issues, and birth is free. However, the reality is that this is not the case for most people. Our insurance did not cover a single thing, and our copay was $1,800. We also had to buy expensive medication that costs $3,500 a month for 5 months, so the total birth cost for us was $11,500.

This is a ridiculous amount of money for the average American family. You may be able to afford this if you are upper-middle class or rich, but that is not true for most people. We have 3 children, and the last one cost us $6,500, but we had no insurance, and I am a doctor with a very good salary.

In contrast, many other developed countries, such as the UK, Germany, France, and many others, provide universal health insurance, including pregnancy and birth. I don't think we should have universal healthcare, but a $6,000 baby tax credit was a very good idea.
