AITA for giving away the wrong bike?

My (43m) youngest son (7m) recently got a new bike. My older boys each got the same one when they turned 7. This has a pretty consistent tradition in our family with all the men in my family getting the same bike at the same age. Part of why we’ve kept this going is because the bike is very high quality and durable. My dad’s been riding his for nearly 40 years. My sons’ older brothers have passed their down to their nephews/cousins. And I still have mine.

Getting back on topic, my youngest got his only a few weeks ago. His physical coordination is significantly delayed, and he has been having trouble riding it.

A few days ago I brought it to a friend who has a large yard to let him practice. We were in the middle of it when his aunt and cousins pulled up. One of the cousins is also 7 and he’s just as eager to get the bike as his cousins were.

I let my nephew use the bike. I figured it would be good practice for my son anyway and he was clearly not ready to ride a bike that large. After a few minutes my son was starting to get upset and asked when he could have it back. I told him he could have it back in a few and he began to get more agitated.

His aunt asked me what was going on and I explained that my son was getting a little impatient. She offered to buy a new bike for my son and let her son use this one instead. Initially I refused but she persisted.

Eventually I agreed, and she took the bike with her when they left. My son calmed down quickly when I told him what happened.

My wife was furious. She said that I had undermined my son and made him feel like my aunt’s child was a priority. My boys who got the bikes are also angry, saying that it ruined a family tradition that they valued.
