In high school I was very poor, my family didn’t have a whole lot and I was lucky to get a job at McDonalds. I was barely scraping by until I got a decent job and I knew I needed money.

When I was a cashier there, there would be times where people would give us $20s and stuff to break and get change. The thing is, the cash registers aren’t connected to anything. Someone could give me a $100 bill and I could give them all the change without anyone knowing.

I did this for 2 years. Everytime I got a big bill, I would pocket the money in my apron and then put it in my pocket at the end of my shift. I made so much money from doing this, although it was never noticed.

The district manager even came to the store I was at and accused me and my coworkers of stealing thousands of dollars in change. I was so scared and I thought I was gonna get in trouble. They looked at everyone’s finances and essentially did an audit on everyone. I was never caught, and I ended up quitting shortly after because of fear.
