CMV: The government shouldn't be able to require you to show your ID if you don't feel like doing it. They can't even require you to carry it with you.

My mom is a poll worker, and she was telling me that the main cause of issues at polls is that people refuse to show their ID when asked for one. She's not a partisan person at all, she just knows the facts. She told me that people are using arguments like "but you need one to fly!" and "I have my rights!" and other shit like that.

I have a few problems with this.

1. If you have nothing to hide, you should have nothing to worry about.

2. It's not the government's job to monitor whether or not people are carrying their ID. It's your job.

3. The fact that you can't fly without an ID doesn't mean you should need one to vote. If you want to vote, you can obviously get an ID for that, right?

4. You can argue "But what if the person has lost their ID?" Well, the solution is obvious. Get a new ID.

5. "But what if the person doesn't have an ID?" Well, they should get one, then they can vote. If they can't get an ID, then they should be able to vote.

I know the above seems ridiculous, but the point is that if you can't show your ID, you can obviously get one, right?
