I have been following this trial for a few days now and I am in utter disbelief. I am not an Amber supporter, I think she has done wrong, but I never believed she was lying about the abuse.

I never remember hearing of Amber out of the blue one day saying that Johnny beat her. From my understanding she never mentioned abuse, it was only on after he had her served with divorce papers and she was trying to get spousal support that she suddenly spoke up.

I need to look up the statement she made to see what she said exactly. But from my understanding it was mostly retaliatory on her part. He just had a restraining order placed on him.

But what I did find interesting though out this whole case is how people are responding to the male abuse victim s narrative. Many people are now recognizing that Amber was using the “victim” narrative as a way to gain sympathy from people to get what she wanted.

What Johnny is saying about Amber is that she never was a victim of his abuse, it was made up to gain sympathy.

Johnny is describing the exact thing men have been saying about women for years now. It is the male victim narrative. Men have been saying how women lie about abuse because they know they will be believed. That women are using abuse claims as a way to get sympathy from people. That women are using abuse claims as a way to get ahead and get what they want.

I don’t care if Amber was just trying to get ahead, she should be held accountable. But the fact that we are having these kinds of discussions out in the open is amazing to me.

People are no longer afraid to express these feelings now because they are seeing in real time the truth behind it all. People are realizing that the narrative of believing all women has consequences when it is used to gain an advantage that isn’t deserved.

It’s funny because I think the Amber situation has started a conversation that many men have wanted to have for a long time.
