A quick question for the materialists out there: If your goal is to find truth, would that not suggest that there is something more important to you than material happenings?

If the material world is everything, then "truth" is just a word. And in the end, it wouldn't matter whether truth or falsehood was the guiding force behind humanity. One is just as material as the other.

So, if you are a materialist who is also searching for truth, then you are admitting that there are things out there which are more important to you than mere material happenings. Truth is more important than falsehood. And in the process of finding truth, you are necessarily admitting that there is something more important to you than mere material happenings.

Now, what exactly is this "importance"? Is importance a material thing?
