Why do so many manufacturers call their guns "tactical?"

Ok so maybe most of you have noticed this, but the marketing departments of several manufacturers have been slapping the "tactical" label on about half their guns over the past few years. As far as i can tell, most of these guns don't have any features that would make explicitly tactical weapons.

For example, the tactical 1911s are just made out of stainless steel and have no light rail. I really don't see how this makes them any more tactical than a standard .45. This would imply that nothing else about the gun matters besides the material it's made of - which doesn't make tons of sense. I understand stainless steel can help with corrosion, but this makes no difference in the vast majority of circumstances.

Bad example, but this is the case for lots of manufacturers and varieties of guns.

What does the "tactical" label even mean at this point? Anyways, thanks for reading y'all.
