Recently, a student had gotten in contact with me to work on an AI project, and one of the use cases I had discussed with him was using AI to generate audio and change the audio pitch in lectures.

To my surprise, the student told me that his professor recently uploaded a video online of him narrating in a high pitched voice, and he had actually used AI to change his voice. He had apparently also used a deep fake to change his face. It went viral in the student community with some students even joking that the professor was actually an AI in disguise.

The professor did eventually admit that he used AI to change his voice. The reason given was that he had strained his voice for the spring semester, and had to use voice changing technology to save his voice for the Fall semester. I found it hilarious that he was using a fake high pitched voice, and not a regular voice, but hey at least it was creative.

I have a feeling we will hear more and more about AI generated audio use in the field of education, as professors find more and more creative use cases for AI narration.
