###Subreddit 1st Rule: “Don’t be a dick”. Strayed away from this sub for a while as lots of jerks seem to be lurking.

I am a gun owner, I believe that everyone has the right to own a gun. Although I would love to see some improvements to the regulation system.

Did any of you guys see the episode of the new documentary series “The Case Against Adnan Syed” where they interview the father of Adam Lanza? Bizarre interview, he says that he met his son once a year for the past 6 years and they would go on a shooting range. He said that his son got kicked out of school for bringing a knife to school and that he became increasingly withdrawn.

Although the father thought he should get locked up, he was also against any gun control! He thought that his son was a neo-nazi and should have been locked up but didn’t think that there should be any form of restrictions on the purchase of guns. He said he was a proud gun owner and would never let his guns be taken away.

I think that background checks are not enough and we should also have psychological evaluations before being allowed to purchase a gun. I don’t understand how people can be against any form of gun control?

What’s your thoughts?

Edit: I am very pleasant to see so many great discussions going on about this topic. I don’t know why I got -6 for my honest opinion, but I think it’s because I left out the word “reasonable” before gun control. I am not against any form of gun control but I do think there should be reasonable steps taken to prevent unstable people from purchasing guns. I am not against the 2nd amendment but I do think a little tweaking in the system is needed to prevent events like this from happening.
