I've been hearing a lot about the groyper movement lately. I think they're a bunch of racist idiots, but they seem to be mostly composed of right wingers. My theory is that this is the next phase of right wing astroturf operations.

The right wing has used a number of tactics to seem like the majority, even when it's not. These tactics include:

* astroturfing (creating a fake grassroots movement)
* gerrymandering (manipulating electoral boundaries)
* voter suppression (making it harder for minorities to vote)
* spreading misinformation to sway elections

I think the groyper movement is the next phase in right wing tactics.

1. It's a racist and anti-semitic movement that is gaining traction on the right. This is already a big problem. The right already has plenty of racism and anti-semitism. There's no need for this.
2. There's no apparent history or roots of these people or their ideology. They're like a random collection of racists and idiots who decided to organize.
3. I see these people and their ideology show up all over the map. There are no roots or connections. It's like these people are being created out of thin air and spread across different places and people.
4. There is no apparent funding for these people or their events. If you look at right wing events, it's easy to see that there are big donors behind them. The groyper movement doesn't have that. It just seems like a random collection of people.
5. The right has been using tactics like this for years. The tea party was one example of this. These movements seem to always be astroturfed. They always seem to be made up of random people who just happened to show up and decide to organize.
6. Astroturfing is the most common tactic used by the right. They're very good at this. It's not surprising that they would try it again.
