The world’s most terrible people are mistakenly being reincarnated as angels. This is a huge problem and many people are upset.

Your family was murdered by a particular serial killer, but if they behave in the afterlife they will be reincarnated as an angel.

What do you do?

Additional Details (feel free to add or ignore as you see fit):
- You must do something, you can’t just sit at home and do nothing
- A war is coming, many people will die
- What you do will not take place in heaven or the afterlife
- No magic, anything supernatural in your story should be something that exists in the real world
- The reincarnation as an angel is not immediate. It takes time. You have some time to act
- There is a council of people who decide who will be an angel based on individual behavior in the afterlife
- If you behave well in the afterlife, you will be reincarnated as an angel. If you don’t, then you will be reincarnated as an insect or a fish
- A war is coming, many people will die
- The council is not God, but they are very very powerful. They have access to knowledge that people in the real world do not. They are capable of doing things that people in the real world are not and have abilities that people in the real world do not
- Many people believe that the council is demons (or at least in league with them)
- Some people believe that the council is actually God, which is why some people worship them as if they were
- You take place in the real world
- No magic or super powers for you or anyone you interact with
- There are sects of people who are trying to solve this issue
- The reincarnation of terrible people as angels is a fairly new occurrence
- The council can pick and choose who they reincarnate as angels. It is not random or based on some formula. They are capable of mass reincarnation, but also individual reincarnation
- You can be religious or irreligious, whichever you prefer
- You can kill people or not, depending on your preference

Edit: this idea of angel/human reincarnation in this prompt is based off the idea of "gashadokuro" from Japanese folklore. Gashadokuro are spirits that roam forests and mountains and move about in search of humans to devour. They appear as giant humanoid skeletons with no facial features other than holes for eyes and mouths. They also have massive appetites and will eat anything smaller than them as well as being capable of consuming souls. The take on gashadokuro in this prompt is very different, but the reincarnation concept is similar. In folklore, gashadokuro are humans who are reincarnated as demons/monsters after death because they were greedy and selfish in life. They are then punished for their behavior by being turned into demons/monsters and forced to roam the earth looking for souls to eat in order to satisfy their eternal hunger. In this prompt, the council of people choose who is a demon or who is an angel, and make that decision based off of how well you behaved in the afterlife.

Edit II: I have a tendency of writing prompts that are way too long because I don’t want to leave anything to assumption. This means that it can take a while to read through the prompt before you start writing or that there is just too much stuff to work with. I am going to try and avoid this in the future by writing shorter prompts and leaving more room for individual interpretation. Thank you for pointing this out.

Edit III: If you wrote a story and it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, that’s okay! It happens. Your still an awesome person who is capable of amazing things and you should keep practicing because one day your writing is going to be anything you want it to be. You’re all awesome!
