I was almost kidnapped as a child

At the time that this happened I lived in a small town in North Carolina. I was the type of kid that liked to play outside especially after supper. I would get bored with getting clean for supper especially after being in school and want to play with my friends. My mother would make me wait until dark and then I could go outside. It was about half a mile to my friends house that lived in the house next to me and it was totally safe. I wouldn't say it was a perfect neighborhood but it was small enough for everyone to know who everyone is and crime was very rare. I was 9 at the time and it was a Friday night. We were outside playing mid night basketball and a woman pulled up in a van. She yelled out to me "do you want to see your dad?" I didn't think of it as anything at the time because my parents were divorced and my dad lived 2 hours away so I automatically thought he was in town and wanted to see me. The lady put my dads name and it put red flags up in my head. I said "my dad doesn't drive a van" and the lady said "oh, he borrowed this van from a friend to get back into town with you." It wasn't until this that I realized something was wrong. I said "who is this?" and the lady said "I'm an old friend of your dads. I saw him at the bar and he wanted to get home with you." I said "I don't know you" and the lady said "well I know your dad and he really wants to see you, can you just get in the van for a second." I said "no" and the lady said "just for a second, I promise I'm an old friend of your dads." At this point my friend came to me and said "hey, you okay?" I said "yeah" and he said "well we need to get out of here." He took off running and I took off right behind him. We ran till we got to a bend in the road that would get us out of site. We stopped and looked and the lady was still sitting in the van. She looked pissed as well. We ran until we got inside and my friend called his dad and told him what happened. I felt bad for a few days but nothing ever came of it. My parents and the local police thought it was just a lady playing a sick game. Never forgot about what happened that night.
