People who say "humans weren't meant to work" have no basic understanding of how a society functions

I want to say straight away I'm notshapes a supporter of capitalism or many things associated with it. I do believe we should get a UBI, and that our social welfare system is completely inadequate.

But when I hear people say things like "Humans weren't meant to work" I want to scream. What the fuck is it that you think pays for everything you have? Yes, we could all be living more comfortably, but do you know what it requires to feed, house and clothe a country of 331 million people? You need people working, thats what. Do you know what the outcome is when millions of people just decide they don't want to work anymore? Chaos. For starters all the fast food chains, convenience stores, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. Would just shut down. There would be no one to staff them, and the owners cant man every location themselves.

And then there's the supply chain, which employs millions of people. From production workers, to truck drivers, to people in the ware houses who package and ship it. You think the Need for food just magically stops? It seems like a lot of people forget that some of the most basic things we need to survive is food, water, and shelter.

The issue stems greatly from the fact that we're all getting poorer, minimum wage hasn't kept up in decades, and with jobs getting more automated you'd think we would be getting paid more for our work at a far more consistent rate. But we're not. Also, the U.S has one of the shortest paid vacation periods out of all of the "developed" countries.

What really needs to happen is for corporations to stop being so greedy, have the minimum wage keep up with inflation, and pay your employees what they make you in a year. But saying "Humans weren't meant to work" is ridiculous.
