Why is no one making affordable semi auto rifles for civilians?

I know that there can be some major issues with semi-automatic rifles, and many are banned (ex. AK47), but semi-autos are basically the most popular type of rifle for hunting and sport. I know there can be issues with these semi-autos (ex. barrel bursting), but why isn't any company making an affordable and reliable semi-auto rifle for sport shooting/hunting?
