CMV: I think the concept of "making love" is dead

The term "making love" has been a staple in dating and relationships for a while now, and I think it's just become a meaningless phrase at this point. When people used to say "making love" I believe they were actually using the phrase as "intimacy" or "showing affection". But nowadays it sounds like people just say it as a way to sound nice. It just doesn't have the same weight as it used to. People can say they "make love" to a person they just met but they just ended up going to a motel and sleeping together. The whole idea of intimacy and affection is what "making love" should represent but it's just become a meaningless term. I'm open to a counter argument though, as I'm just a 20 year old guy.
