CMV: People who refuse to have children because of the current state of the world are selfish narcissists

I've seen an increase in people (mostly on TikTok) talking about how the world is so messed up now that they wouldn't dream of bringing a child into this. I think they're selfish narcissists who want everyone to know how special and empathetic they are.<br><br>There are many examples of horrible things happening around the world right now, but that was always the case and people had kids in spite of those things. Sure, people will have fewer children if they think the world is becoming a more dangerous place, but that's the reality for most of human history. <br><br>I have no children, but I plan on having them. I don't believe it's selfish to bring a child into a world that you believe needs fixing. Instead, I believe that if you choose not to have children then you're a self-absorbed narcissist who wants to be seen as an empathetic person.
