CMV: Trump's biggest failure is that he won the election, and his presidency and legacy are a direct result of his own failures as a politician and leader, and the failures of the US political system.

Trump won the 2016 election because he was able to tap into deep, widespread discontent among white working-class Americans and others. He did so by blaming immigration, globalization, and cultural change for the economic problems he promised to address. However, Trump's presidency has failed to address the very real economic and social problems he promised to fix, and he has exacerbated them. For example, the economy is now more expensive, taxes are higher, healthcare is less accessible, and trade policies are now more protectionist. Trump has not addressed the root causes of these problems, but has instead blamed others, particularly immigrants and minorities, and has used xenophobic, racist, and nativist rhetoric to fuel division and hatred. His presidency is marked by corruption, incompetence, and a disregard for democratic institutions and norms. I think Trump's biggest failure was winning the election, because he has failed to address the problems he promised to fix, has exacerbated existing problems, and has undermined democratic institutions.
