Writing your own truth is far more important than writing truth

I saw a woman post a quote on Instagram.

Buck O'Neil.

"And I tell you why we need for everybody's history because without history you wouldn't know what happened yesterday and how it will affect today and how it will effect tomorrow."

This is a fantastic quote. And usually I would save and reuse it. But the way she posted this quote was so much better.

She said "And I tell you why we need for everybody's history because without history you won't know what happened yesterday and how it will affect today and how it will effect tomorrow."

She wrote it in first person. And for some reason, left the last word as "effect" rather than "affect".

The quote was now hers.

The affects of social media have been so strong.

I've lost touch of what is real and what is fake.

When I see a quote, I assume it's not the person's original thought. These quotes often serve as the foundation for what we know to be true. Yet, it is written by another.

The way we speak of matters of the heart, and they say they are from the heart, but are they their own words?

A friend says "my best friend is my husband". Another says "I love my husband like a brother". A lot of other friends say the first.

Most of us are them.

Their words are our words.

I will close this post by just saying, don't be afraid to write your own words. Write your own truth.
