I have no sympathy for tourists who travel to a country without knowing anything about it

I’m an American living in the US and have traveled to many countries around the world, but it seems that the majority of American tourists don’t know anything about the countries they visit. I’ve heard stories from people from other countries about how Americans can be rude to the locals, and it’s disgusting.

Continent: The US is not a continent. South America is a continent. Africa is a continent. Asia is a continent, etc. North America is a continent and includes the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

Country: The US is not a country, it is a nation that makes up one of the many countries in North America.

It is not “the rest of the world” outside of the US. There are 195 recognized countries in the world and the US makes up only one of those.

The majority of the world outside of the US speaks multiple languages. The US is the only country I know of where it is common for the majority of citizens to only speak one language. In some countries it is considered rude to only speak one language. Languages are a huge part of a countries culture and it is offensive to not even try to learn a couple words of that language.

The US is not the greatest country in the world. The US has one of the top ten lowest standard of living in the developed world. The US is one of only five countries that does not require paid maternity leave, the others being Papua New Guinea, Suriname, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The US has the highest rate of cocaine use in the world. The US also has the most billionaires in the world and the most millionaires in the world. 36% of Americans are obese, the highest in the world. The US has the most crime in the developed world. The US is one of only a few countries in the world that does not consider health care a right but rather a privilege. The US is one of the only countries in the world that does not teach its students other languages, instead forcing them to take a foreign language class of their choice in college in order to learn a different language. The US is not a democracy, it is a capitalist plutocracy. The US does not have the greatest healthcare in the world. The US ranks 34th in healthcare in the world, just before Serbia. The US does not have the best colleges in the world, it ranks 27th in education. So yes, the US is not the greatest country in the world.

I had no idea that the majority of Americans were so ignorant of the outside world until Trump became president. I was 11 when Trump became president and at the time I thought it was just politics. I grew up in a Democratic family and we hated Republicans so we hated Trump. After Trump became president, international news became more popular and I actually started to pay attention to it. That’s when I finally realized that Trump was a maniac. I took a political spectrum test when I turned 18 and it showed that my political alignment was a left leaning authoritarian. I realized that I was misinformed my whole life about Trump and the US government. I realized that Trump was right about a lot of things and that the US government really has no interest in the citizens. I’m not saying that Trump was a good president but that he was not as bad as everyone made him out to be.

The US has to be one of the most arrogant countries in the world.

Sorry for the rant, but I needed to get this off my chest.

Edit: I’m sorry for everyone who assumed I was bashing the US and Trump supporters. That was not my intentions. I am an American and a Trump supporter and I was simply stating facts about my country. My intention was to bash the Americans who travel to other countries and have no idea about the country they’re in. I’m sorry if that didn’t come across.
