CMV: The US government's lack of investment in infrastructure is not the reason we have crumbling roads, bridges, and airports. The reason we have crumbling infrastructure is that private companies and private interests do not allow us to raise taxes and invest in infrastructure, and that our infrastructure is designed and built for profit and not for public good. We are the only developed nation in the world where we are not allowed to raise our own taxes. We are the only developed nation in the world that has this problem. So, if our roads, bridges, airports, and water supply are crumbling, we need to stop blaming the lack of tax cuts and start blaming the fact that our tax system is not designed for the public good and is designed for private interests.
