CMV: The fact that 99.9% of people are racist to some degree is an unfair standard to hold people to. There are some people who genuinely do not have any prejudices and should not be called out for something that they aren't.

For the past year I have noticed that I have been called out for racism every other week. It can be for the smallest things, such as saying "of colour" instead of "person of colour" and it seems to happen more and more often. I truly believe that some people are taking advantage of the current situation and using it to get people into trouble. It's almost as if people want to be offended so they can say "Look at what they did to me. I am such a victim" in an attempt to make themselves feel sorry for themselves.

I have been accused of being racist for using phrases such as "black don't crack" when I say it to describe black people. I have been told I should use the phrase "black skin doesn't crack" instead. This is such an obvious example of taking something out of context to get someone into trouble, as the phrase "black don't crack" is referring to black people as a whole and not the colour. I also think it's hypocritical to tell someone they should say "black skin doesn't crack" when you're just going to call them racist anyway.

I have also been told I should use the phrase "people of colour" instead of "coloured people." The argument I have heard is that the word "coloured" is an outdated term. I am sure the people who have told me this are just looking for things to take out of context to get me into trouble.
