What if the Americas as we know today were colonized by Oceania?

You heard me correctly: Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands took up the task of colonizing North and South America. This leaves Asia, Europe and Africa to be colonized by whoever takes them up. Assume the Americas are filled with Native Americans, Inuits and other indigenous people, and are in the same era of civilization as they were in when the Spanish actively started colonizing the New World.

Let's say that the colonizers are originally from Australia and New Zealand, mainly consisting of Maori and Aboriginals.

How different (or similar) would the Americas be from what we know today? Would the Native Americans and Inuits have been displaced, as they were by the Europeans? Would the Americas be divided into territories and colonies like they were under the Europeans? Would there even be the concept of colonies in the Americas?

What would this mean for the global positions of the colonizers and old world nations? Would the Oceanians continue their "fight" to colonize Africa and Asia?
