When I worked at Walmart, one of the managers was a very nice lady. She was really a role model at the store. We would help clean & stock the store while she would prep for a big sale at the front. One thing I always noticed was that she would walk around the store and take items back to her office.

She would come back out and go through the day. At first I thought she was taking the items for herself after the store was closed. She would take clothes and snacks. Sometimes even electronics even though she knew it wasn’t on sale yet.

One night I was still at the store and I saw her do the same thing. I thought ok this is it. She is going to take it home. I walked back to her office to ask her about something.

There, I saw her make a large bag full of food and clothes, as well as the electronics she took. I asked where she was going. She told me she was going to a local homeless shelter. I couldn’t believe it. She took even the stuff out of her paycheck so that the store didn’t lose any money.

I thought at that moment that if I ever became a manager at Walmart, I would do the same.
