AITA for refusing to share my emergency money?

I recently started dating this new guy and things have been good between us. Today however was an awkward day. <br><br>During our conversation this morning he told me he needed to pay a 5,000 dollar bill for his mother’s surgery in two weeks but all his money was in his savings which has a 30 day waiting period. He said he was struggling to come up with that money and was seeking my help. I told him I couldn’t help because I had used up all my money on a new car. <br><br>Then he berated me for spending my money on a car when I could’ve helped his mother. I said that it was not my responsibility and he got mad and called me cold. Then I told him that I do have some money but it was for emergency and I wasn’t touching it. <br><br>He got mad and said that his mother’s surgery was an emergency. He demanded that I give him my emergency money. I told him no and he got so mad and berated me. I’m disclosing that I have about 50,000 saved up from my inheritance. I told him I couldn’t because I needed it for me and I wasn’t touching it no matter what. <br><br>We had a huge fight and he called me cold and said I cared more about my money then I care about him or his family. AITA for not helping him during his mother’s surgery?
