Chinese AI startup, Microraptor, has denied using ChatGPT’s intellectual property, after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed concerns about the replicas of the AI chatbot.<br><br>Last week Microraptor announced an “advanced” AI chatbot called Verci, which the company claimed had beaten ChatGPT in a chatbot showdown. It comes amid a surge in AI chatbot replicas fuelled by OpenAI’s release of code designed for “ChatGPT” itself.<br><br>Altman called the rapid development a “terrible” trend and one that made him “sad”. He expressed concerns that groups with little ability to maintain, train, modify the systems were using OpenAI’s code.<br><br>Last week, Microraptor announced an “advanced” AI chatbot called Verci. The company claimed that it had beaten ChatGPT in a chatbot showdown, such as one it did with the Red Bull Racing car driver, Daniel Ricciardo.<br><br>Microraptor denied using ChatGPT’s intellectual property and said they drew from the open-source source code for the AI replicas.<br><br>OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed concerns about the replicas of the AI chatbot, calling the rapid development a "terrible" trend that made him "sad". He feared that groups with little ability to maintain, train, and modify the systems were using OpenAI's code.
