So, the govt is about to spend millions of dollars on a drug called "Māhina" which is basically a rebranded Methamphetamine specifically designed for treatment.

This drug 'Māhina' is made of 99.9% pure meth, and it is combined with some other drugs in order to slow its effect. The drug works similarly to methadone for heroin addicts- Meth addicts will be asked to use a dosage of Māhina once a day, in order to curb cravings and stop the withdrawal.

I am a healthcare worker at a clinic who will be providing this drug. I am so confused - Meth is a fucking addictive drug, I am sure that it will only make the problem worse. Also, it's obvious that people will be exploiting this. I'm sure there will be people that will sell the drug back in the black market, or just pretend to be Meth addicts for free treatment. And the govt is willing to spend millions of dollars on it?

The govt will start rolling it out in 2 months - I am really curious to see how it turns out. I'll update in a few months time.

Edit: Thanks for the replies. I'll be looking at the link you've provided, and yes in the coming months I will see how the addicts will take it. I am aware that Methadone is very effective. But what I'm concerned is that the new drug that the govt has come up with, is a 99% pure Methamphetamine, mixed with other drugs. And that's what I had a problem with. I'm not saying that Methadone is not effective - but the govt has come up with something completely new, that's not tried and tested anywhere else in the world.
