AITA for insisting my son tell his grandfather he’s not attending his graduation?

My sons grandfather is a very impressive man, he’s a very important man at his job and has been awarded many honors. My son and his sisters have grown up hearing about all the amazing things he has accomplished. For the most part he is a good man, but he has always put a lot of pressure on the kids to do well and to make themselves sound more accomplished than they are.

My son is currently in his last year of college and his grandfather has been very pushy about all of the details of his upcoming graduation. My son has decided he’s not going to attend. He doesn’t like being in large crowds because of his anxiety and he has never liked this sort of thing.

I told my son it’s completely up to him if he wants to go or not, but I think he should tell his grandfather. He has been avoiding telling him because he knows how disappointed he will be. I have tried talking to his grandfather about it but he won’t listen, he thinks my son just needs to suck it up. His graduation is at the end of the month and he is starting to get texts from other family members asking about his plans.
