I am a black woman who has never felt comfortable owning a gun until now

Hi all. It’s time for me to buy a gun. I am a black woman who has never been comfortable owning a gun. I grew up in a family that didn’t really have guns because we saw them as a destabilizing influence on black communities. But the rioting has made me realize I need to defend myself and I am going to buy a gun. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am an independent. I am not trying to be political. I just want to defend myself and I feel like that is my right. <br><br>I don’t know much about guns yet, but I am an eager learner. For those who are also new to guns, I will document my journey as I figure things out. If you have basic information you think I should know, please let me know. I am particularly concerned about safety and cost, so any information you have about either of those two things would be really helpful.<br><br>Thanks for reading!
