What is philosophy, anyway?

Philosophy is often described in terms of what it is not. It is not science, although it may concern itself with truth and evidence. It is not religion, although it may concern itself with beliefs. It is not psychology, although it may concern itself with the human condition. If I were to take a philosophy course, what would I expect to learn?
