What is your opinion on the Japanese language?

I'm a teacher for a class where students can watch anime and learn Japanese through it, and we were talking about the Japanese language and some of them said it was really hard to understand, or it was a bit grating on the ears.<br><br>I was wondering what other people think about Japanese, especially if they are non-native speakers.<br><br>What are your thoughts on the Japanese language?
