Psycho at the party

Weird occurrence I can't help but think about, and I was too chicken to post yesterday because of an impending exam I had this afternoon.

I was 6, maybe 7 years old, and my dad had just been fired for blowing the whistle on an extremely corrupt company that I will not mention. It was the first time we'd ever been to a home that was as big as the one we were in was, and I remember looking at the tree in their yard and how smart it was. It was about 4 or 5 years old, but it already looked like the miniature evergreen trees you buy from garden depots.

We had only been there for about half an hour when the owner's niece came down to talk to us. We were in the basement, and she told us that the owner had a daughter who was my age, and was excited to meet me. I was incredibly shy and introverted as a child, and I don't know if it was the atmosphere of the house or the fact that I was finally meeting another kid, but I was excited.

I followed her up to the main floor, and into one of the rooms where the daughter was waiting. The daughter's name was Emily; we both went to the same school, but in different classes. She was very nice, and I remember us playing quiet games like Uno and cards, but I remember us having lots of fun.

It was getting close to my bedtime, and my dad came up to say that it was time to go home. Emily's father was waiting in the car for us, and was going to drive us back to our house.

So, we grabbed our things and left. It was nighttime, and the street was empty except for one car that was parked by the neighbor's house. It was a dark car, black or blue, and I couldn't see inside. The only thing I remember from that car was a man sitting in the driver's seat, just staring at us. My dad shooed me away, and I didn't think much of it.

The next morning, my dad confessed that he was glad that I hadn't recognized the driver in the car. The driver was my dad's former underlings' boss, and he was incredibly angry at my dad and was taking it out on our family. He would threaten to kill us, and on one occasion, showed up at our house and vandalized my father's car in front of me. I didn't recognize him because of the shadows in the dark car, and I'm glad I didn't.

So, to the man in the car, let's not meet again.
