Google Maps now incorporates carbon emissions for every route

Google Maps will now automatically provide an alternative route to reduce carbon emissions, but only if it’s the same time or under three minutes more than the standard route. Users can select the route that provides the lowest environmental impact by taping on “Explore Routes” on Android. A new toggle on iOS allows users to check the “Prefer Fuel-Efficient Route” option. The feature will be available in the United States and Europe, and comes after the tech company faced criticism for not doing enough.
