The 800 million dollar deal was a deal that was made 7 years ago by Obama to lift the sanctions off of Iran in exchange for the release of 5 prisoners. They also had a cash payment of 1.7 billion dollars paid in cash. 800 million dollars of this was US taxpayer dollars.

The US government gave Iran pallets of cash as part of the deal, and didn't even deny that it did. But that's their right as an independent nation.

I'm conservative, but I don't understand why this was a big deal. Yes, it's shitty that they're a terrorist state and they don't deserve the money, but Iran could have been far worse if Obama had decided not to pursue diplomacy.

Iran has always been a threat, and while Obama isn't perfect, certainly Trump is far worse with his 13,000+ lies and misspending of taxpayer dollars on the wall. But Trump also has a point in that Iran is a terrorist state. In fact recently there was a plot to assassinate the US Ambassador to South Africa. That comes from Iran, so they're still a threat.

Iran has also continued to violate agreements, and they also conducted secret tests. They're known to be untrustworthy.

With that being said, I don't believe Iran was ever going to be a big threat. They do still have their issues, and the US could certainly help them with their problems.

I just want to know how conservatives feel about this topic. I don't get the issue with it.
