Kids in school who are "gifted and talented" are nearly always just "wealthy"

I went to a "gifted and talented" school when I was a child because my dad is a professor at a top university. When I was 11 I caught chicken fevers and was out of school for 2 weeks. I fell behind in school and didn't catch up for over a year. Everyone else caught up in a few days. I don't know how we had "special" classes when I could miss a whole month of school and not even realize I had missed material. Later on in high school we got our intelligence tests and a kid in my grade scored 180. I have no idea if he had cheated or not, I don't think there is a place for anyone with an IQ over 180 in modern society. Later on in college I had to work twice as hard as everyone else to get the same grades. I went to the top university in my country. I am a doctor now, people in the top 1% who are "gifted and talented" aren't gifted, they have to work less to get there but they aren't special.
