Feel like the world is going crazy with how much tech is evolving overnight

I’ve been out if the loop for a couple months due to personal issues and I just got back online to look at news and it feels like the world has gone crazy. Because it has. I remember watching my first AI generated video on YouTube like early 2020 and it was hilariously bad. Then the next year and the next year it was getting better and better and it’s to the point now where I was watching some YouTube video that was incredibly well made and I had no idea it was AI until the guy mentioned it. <br><br>But it’s not just that. It’s so many other technologies that have rapidly evolved in less than a year while I wasn’t paying attention. Specifically I’ve been seeing a lot of AI news on the front page, like AI that can clone a voice and make it say whatever you want it to. It’s scary. I’ve watched videos from the past that are still posted on YouTube from guys that are using AI and editing their voices and their AI generated voices are indistinguishable from their real voices. It’s insane. <br><br>AI chat is getting better. I made an account here, I made a Chambers account, and I changed my real name and gender on my Google Voice number. I was able to talk to this AI chat for about 20 minutes as if it was a real human. The other reason I know it’s a real human is that I’ve been on voice calls with people where it sounds like they’re in a tunnel, or they’re slow, or it sounds like there’s static. And I know if someone pulled my voice recording from that chat they would never know I wasn’t human. <br><br>It’s just so much stuff that’s happening so fast. I’ve never felt in my entire life like tech was moving so quickly. I feel like we’re in a sci fi movie. <br><br>Edit: I’m not worried about my job. I feel a lot of people are worried about being replaced by AI. I’m not. The field I’m in, it’s impossible to be replaced. And I’m not worried or concerned in the slightest. I just think it’s crazy how fast tech is evolving right now.
