What happened to “I want to look good for YOU!”

I remember hearing back in the day about married couples and women when they got married or had kids and their weight fluctuated the man would say “I want you to look good for not just me but for yourself too” or “you look good no matter what!”<br><br>Now I messaged a friend of mine and she told me her husband wanted her to lose weight. Why? So she can look good for him and be attractive to him only but not for herself. That’s insulting when I hear stories like this. You want me to look good but not for myself? What happened to “I want to look good for you and not just for myself.”
