I know someone who has "woken up" before

About 2 years ago a friend of mine told me he felt like he woke up. He was a normal guy, nothing seemed wrong with him. He told me he felt like a robot who just became aware that he is a robot. He said he felt like he just woke up a few days ago. I don't know what to make of it, but I knew him for years before he told me this. <br><br>What do you think it is? Is it like, gaslighting yourself?
