Russian hackers suspected of causing a wave of service disruptions and fuel shortages at US oil refineries have been arrested and charged in a crackdown on organised crime. <br><br>The attacks, attributed to the Russian-speaking LockBit gang, targeted companies responsible for supplying millions of gallons of fuel a day, including one that suffered a month-long outage.<br><br>Prosecutors say LockBit's tactics included extorting payments from victims by threatening to release sensitive data, as well as launching denial-of-service attacks to overwhelm websites and disrupt operations.<br><br>Russian authorities cooperated with their international counterparts to bring the suspects to justice.<br><br>Source (Independent)<br><br>Post and comment count may not add up due to the removal of posts and comments by the mods.
