My girlfriend talks in her sleep. She's been saying the most horrible things recently...

I’m infatuated with her. <br><br>Utterly infatuated. <br><br>And I still am. <br><br>But I’m also concerned; something’s not right. <br><br>Because the woman of my dreams just keeps talking in her sleep, and it terrifies me every time she does.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>**21/04/20**<br><br>Manda and I have been dating for four months now. She’s beautiful, smart, and has a fantastic sense of humour. She also sleeps like a starfish, which is annoying, but I can cope. <br><br>I was beginning to believe that she was perfect, and I’m seriously considering asking her to marry me.<br><br>The only peculiar thing about her was her nightmares. She would often scream out during the night and then complain about bad dreams the next morning. I was starting to get worried about her. She was obviously under stress at work, you could hear it in her voice, but she just wouldn’t let it out. *I knew there was no point pushing her.* <br><br>And it didn’t seem to matter, because she’s always so bubbly in the morning.<br><br>One night though, she did something that she’d never done before, and I wish I could just go back in time and just erase that moment forever.<br><br>We were both in bed, fast asleep, when I was awoken by her talking.<br><br>She was saying something softly; I couldn’t quite hear it, so I turned on the light and turned to her.<br><br>She was slouched in her usual starfish position, but her eyes were shut. <br><br>I leant forward just to get a better listen.<br><br>She was saying: “I love you. Stop hurting me. I love you more than anyone. Please don’t hurt me anymore.” <br><br>I turned the light back off and went back to sleep.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>**22/04/20**<br><br>I just shook off yesterday’s events. Maybe she was trying to talk to me, and was just in a daze? <br><br>It didn’t stop me from thinking though, and I couldn’t stop myself from wondering what she was thinking. It sounded like she was scared of someone, but that can’t be right. <br><br>Can it?<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>**24/04/20**<br><br>I was awoken by Manda talking again. I knew I just had to get my head in the game and talk to her, so I did, and she was so nice. She told me that she’s just been in a bad mood lately, but she’s fine and that she’s in control.<br><br>I was doomed to just let it go and move on. But it’s been *gnawing* at me, and when she talked again tonight, it was just too much. <br><br>I had to ask her what was going on. <br><br>My voice was so quiet and weak, I can’t even believe myself. <br><br>I leant over, just like I did last time, and I only barely managed to ask: “Manda, are you okay?”<br><br>She *stared* at me, her eyes open and piercing. She looked at me with this cold, blank stare, and just shook her head. <br><br>And then she turned over, and I just let her go to sleep.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>**25/04/20**<br><br>Tonight, Manda was talking again. <br><br>I heard her quite clearly, and I just knew I had to do something. <br><br>I was so worried that she might have been abused before. Maybe she was being abused now? <br><br>I knew that I just had to look after her. <br><br>I was so confident that she just needed me. I knew that I could help her through it all. <br><br>But now I don’t know anymore. <br><br>I know that I just need to check on her. <br><br>I’m not sure what’s going on, and I’m not sure what I’ve done.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>When I leant forward tonight, I was going to ask her all the questions that had been ravaging my mind. <br><br>But she was already talking. <br><br>And she was saying things that I couldn’t believe. She was saying things that I don’t even want to write down. <br><br>She was saying *monstrous* things, and it just sent shivers down my spine. <br><br>Because, when I leant forward and turned on the light again, I saw her grinning. <br><br>I saw her grinning, and I saw her eyes. <br><br>*My girlfriend talks in her sleep.*<br><br>*And in her eyes, there are no pupils.*
