I just had the strangest experience at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport

So I flew into BKK with a transfer to go on to the Thai islands. This means I don’t need to go through customs or show my passport, but I still have to go through security checks.<br><br>Just after passing through the scanner but before my stuff comes out of the x-ray, I see a guard suddenly pick up my bag and take it through a side door, and he shouts at me to follow him. I kind of stumble after him, “what the fuck is happening” “did I accidentally try to bring something through the scanner that I shouldn’t have? And why isn’t he explaining himself? <br><br>I’m guided into a small room next to the main security area and a female officer (dressed in a similar outfits to the guy who brougt me here) is waiting. She explains that they found something in my bag that is illegal to bring into Thailand. She then pulls out a sealed small plastic bag and places it on the table. It’s… cherry lip balm. “This is marijuana right here, this is against the law in Thailand and we need to take you to the police station.” <br><br>Me: “This is not weed, this is lip balm”<br><br>Her “oh really? Then how are we going to explain to the police that this is lip balm?” I’m starting to lose my patience “you can explain to the police that this is fucking lip balm!! You can also look at the packaging where it says lip balm! You can take it out of the plastic bag and see that it is fucking lip balm! You can put it on your fucking lips if you want, you can rub it on your fucking arm, you can shove it up your fucking nose for all I care.”<br><br>She looks a bit dumbfounded but then she says “I’m going to call my colleague to help with the translation.” I shout “I don’t need a fucking translation! You just need to fucking look at the packaging! You can’t fucking take me to the police station for this shit”. She then puts the lip balm back in my bag and gives it back to me and tells me to leave. <br><br>The whole conversation was in english and I never explicitly said that she should let me go, she just handed me my stuff and told me to leave. What just happened??? Was she trying to extort money from me and I scared her off by yelling at her? Am I the “bad guy” here? <br><br>Edit: holy shit this blew up!
