A couple of House Republicans who had expressed reservations about removing Omar voted in favor of keeping her on the committee. While the vote marked a victory for the Republican caucus, it was the most votes any Jewish or Muslim member of Congress has received in a vote to remove them from a committee in the 118th Congress — and the first time a naturalized citizen has been removed from a committee for being a naturalized citizen and for positions taken before they took office and the oath to become a Representative.
