Mitch McConnell is desperate to keep federal minimum wage at $7.25 while he accepts his annual salary of $193.4 thousand, which is the same salary he has had for the last 10 years. He also has been in office for 35 years and has voted for multiple minimum wage increases. But it was only 2014 when he said that he doesn’t care about the poor: <br><br>"If you want to call me my friend, you'd better call me senator. My name is Mitch McConnell. You keep using my first name, as if we're close. I don't know you." He said in response to a coal miner asking him about raising the minimum wage.<br><br>He calls himself the "grim reaper" of the Democratic legislation to raise the minimum wage. But with the slim 51 seat majority in the Senate, he has to only lose 4 Republicans to Democrats to lose control due to Kamala Harris being a tiebreaker.
