CMV: We should reestablish the tradition of men proposing to women, because of the romanticism of the gesture.

I think the tradition of proposing to someone should come from the man rather than the woman because of the romanticism and significance of the gesture. Since it has been banned in most countries, I believe we need an alternative. I think marriage should be proposed to by the man because this shows the woman that men are ready to settle down with her because of his love for her. <br>Many people discredit the idea, saying that proposing is bright, expensive, stressful, and to add more insult to injury, all for a ceremony that will inevitably end in a divorce. I think the opposite of this though. The proposing of bright, expensive, stressful gem is as a sign to the woman, of the men's never ending love. The fact that proposing is so stressful adds more significance to the gesture. I would also add that the stress is justified by the fact that the marriage is permanent. If 50% of marriages end in divorce, then it is the fault of the ceremony. There is no real reason for it to end in divorce, especially with the wifes consent to the marriage.
