What is your theory of how this all turns out?

I'm a middle school English teacher, and I'm in the middle of my first year of a two year program to become a librarian. I've always loved library work, and enjoy helping people find texts to read. When I learned of AI, my first thought was "this is the end of my career. I'll never be a librarian".

I spent some time talking with my colleagues, and we concluded that AI isn't a replacement for teaching, but a tool that we can use in our teaching. One of the most important things we realized was that to use AI we need to "trust but verify" the results, and we decided that the best thing we can teach students is how to do that.

But, I still have a hard time imagining what this world will look like. For instance, how do we grade anything?
