The biggest lie of our time is that if you work hard, you'll make it in life. That is just not the case for most people, most of the time, because the global economy is set up in such a way that most people will never achieve success, no matter how hard they work.

Let's say that you work 16 hour days 7 days a week for 10 years, and you save every penny you earn, and that is all you do, and all you do is work and eat and sleep. In most of the world, you will still be poorer than a middle-class American family who doesn't work at all, because they get welfare benefits from the government. If you work your ass off, you will be poorer than someone who does nothing at all.

You will also be in terrible health. You will die at 40 of diabetes, or a stroke, or a heart attack. You will also lose all of your friends, and your family will hate you because you never spend time with them. You will be alone at Christmas.

You will also be a slave to your job, working for a CEO who makes 2000 times more money than you do. You will also be a wage slave, competing with other wage slaves for the favour of your CEO. You will be in constant fear that you will be fired, and starve to death. You will have no health insurance, no vacation time, and you will be paid less than a dog walker.

You can work 8 hours a day, be healthy, enjoy your free time with your friends and family, and still have to work two jobs just to pay the rent.

Hard work is not enough to make it in life, because the system is designed to make sure that most people don't make it, because dead wage slaves are more profitable than alive wage slaves.
