"An Israeli mother of two children was among the hostages released by Hamas in the first part of the exchange deal signed on Friday and set to be completed in mid-December.<br><br>Yeshiva student Hisham al-Sayed, 24, who has been imprisoned for a year and a half, was also released, as well as three residents of the Bedouin towns of Hura and Kuseife who were kidnapped at the border.<br><br>The freed Israelis were whisked away in a helicopter and taken to a secret Israeli military base where they were reunited with their families.<br><br>One of them was a woman whose kidnapping by Hamas was kept under a gag order by Israeli authorities. She was abducted at the Gaza border in early 2022, months before the October 7 attack.<br><br>She was brought to hospital by the International Red Cross and was met by her husband who said he was so overwhelmed by emotion that he “couldn’t speak.”<br><br>All the released Israelis were said to be in reasonable health, except for one who had suffered light injuries. Two of them had lost weight.<br><br>The mother was being treated for injuries caused by shrapnel. A surgeon said that she had lost “a lot of blood” and had suffered injuries to her organs, requiring several operations. Reports said that she was on the road to recovery.<br><br>Hisham and the Bedouin hostages were all in good health.<br><br>Details of the Israeli deaths confirmed by Hamas on Friday were not made public."
